Like most of the country, heck most of the world probably, we are watching the tariff situation unfold and wondering what will happen next. While I can't forecast the future, I can answer some questions regarding how the tariffs will impact us here at Twisted Monk.
We import raw fibers from all over the world, some of those prices may increase. However our largest production cost is labor. We manufacture in the US and have proudly paid a living wage to our employees since day one. I, the owner, am paid the same wages as my employees. While our margins may be slim, there are no stock holders or corporate greed to be fed. Just a small group of dedicated artisans who care deeply about your pleasure.
While the cost of some raw materials may increase, we are reviewing them on a case by case basis and do not expect the overall price of our finished ropes to increase. Some fibers may become too expensive to import and may not be restocked temporarily. Some finished products may be discontinued if we cannot afford to offer them at an fair price.
Yes, the cost of everything will increase due to this current tariff action, from the coffee I’m drinking while I write this to the biscuit I just gave to Lugnut. Our goal is to absorb as much as we can, keep any price increases as minimal as possible, and continue to ship boxes of joy and pleasure to all our customers.
Thank you all for your continued support, please remember to be kind to one another and to find joy together.
